The coronavirus pandemic, which affects most countries in the world, prevented traditional protests from celebrating on May 1st, although in some countries there were those who resisted the restrictions, resulting in some arrests.
In Athens, several hundred members of the PAME communist union have demonstrated to parliament that they are keeping the necessary distance to avoid contagion. Most of them wore red masks.
Hundreds of workers have also taken to the streets in other cities in the country, in most cases taking into account the distances. The rest of the large Greek unions had canceled the May 1st marches over the pandemic.
In Turkey, the government has released a three-day prison sentence in 31 cities and provinces, including Istanbul and the capital Ankara, to curb the spread of the coronavirus.
