Venezuelan Foreign Minister Jorge Arreaza has denounced on Thursday that the United States intends to challenge the credentials of Venezuelan authorities to the United Nations.

As he has said, the United States leads a group of countries that will try to challenge Venezuelan credentials on Friday afternoon (local time), just when Venezuelan Vice President Delcy Rodríguez is speaking at the 74th UN General Assembly .

“A minority group of governments led by the United States intends to instrumentalize the UN as a weapon of intervention in internal affairs of Venezuela,” he denounced during the meeting of foreign ministers of the Non-Aligned Movement that has been held on the margins of The general assembly.

Arreaza has stressed that this initiative is part of “the continuous promotion of a coup against the constitutional authorities of Venezuela” which this time contemplates “the challenge of our legitimate credentials before the UN”.

The UN represents the “diversity of political, economic, social and cultural systems of Humanity, which must be respected and accepted by the responsible members of the international community. We cannot allow them to pretend to impose models,” he said, according to the Xinhua news agency.

On Tuesday, Arreaza proposed to withdraw the headquarters of the UN from New York on the grounds that the United States “does not respect host country agreements” due to the restrictions it has imposed this year on delegations such as the Cuban or Iranian to attend the appointment annual.
