Around 10,000 people demonstrated this Saturday in Munich against the protective measures taken by the German authorities to prevent coronavirus infections.
“We are currently expecting 10,000 participants,” said a spokeswoman for the Bavarian capital police in statements from the DPA news agency.
The main event had to be interrupted just under an hour after it started because the participants did not wear masks and did not comply with the established distancing rules.
Likewise, more people than allowed took part in another demonstration that had recently taken place on the main streets of downtown Munich.
According to the city police, the 3,000 instead of the 500 allowed participants were reached, so the protest was broken up and the participants were asked to go to the main event in Theresienwiese, the area where the Oktoberfest usually celebrates.
