Several armed men launched an attack on a MSF-supported hospital in West Kabul on Tuesday. A first explosion was allegedly caused by a suicide bomber, TV station 1TV reported.
A doctor from the Dasht-i Barchi District Health Center has confirmed to the audiovisual network that a suicide attack was first recorded and that several armed men later entered the hospital. According to 1TV, the hospital is supported by the non-governmental organization Médicos Sin Fronteras (MSF).
The Afghan police have confirmed that there are several attackers in the hospital and have reported that special forces have been deployed to stop the attack. TV broadcaster Tolo said that there were at least two explosions at the site of the attack and that, according to local residents and a reporter, shots were heard in the hospital.
MP Mahdi Rasekh has confirmed that several doctors are trapped in the hospital center and that security forces have already been deployed in the region.
