Argentinian agro-export company Vicentin will appeal the state intervention in court

June 15, 2020

The owners of the Vicentin farm have announced that they will appeal the Argentine state’s decision to intervene. This means that for the first time, the country’s judiciary and not the international juries will regulate a situation with these characteristics.

The decision was made after both parties failed to reach agreement, the Argentinian newspaper La Nación pointed out after a meeting on Thursday in Olivos, the presidency’s official residence.

The defense of businessmen will be based on questioning the validity of the decree announced by the government of President Alberto Fernández on the need and urgency to carry out a temporary intervention based on the 1977 expropriation legislation.
