Argentina exceeded 620,000 confirmed COVID-19 cases this Saturday, while the number of deaths from the disease is close to 13,000, according to the country’s health ministry.
In particular, the Argentine health authorities have recorded 9,276 new infections and 143 deaths from the disease in the last 24 hours, bringing the number of cases and deaths to 622,934 and 12,799 respectively.
Regarding hospital occupancy, the Argentine Ministry of Health has reported that 3,213 people have been admitted to intensive care units, according to the Télam news agency.
The percentage of adult bed occupancy in the country is 59.8 percent, while in the metropolitan area of Buenos Aires, the epicenter of the pandemic in the country, that percentage reaches 66.1 percent.
Argentina celebrates this Sunday six months after the so-called Social, Preventive and Compulsory Isolation (ASPO) came into effect. On the same Friday, the Argentine presidency announced an extension of social isolation due to the coronavirus pandemic until October 11.
