Argentina tops 250,000 cases and the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires is considering delaying reopening

The Argentine Ministry of Health this Monday reported an increase of 7,369 infections in the last 24 hours, so that 253,868 cases have accumulated since the first registration on March 3, while the authorities of the city of Buenos Aires are investigating whether the delay is Reopening and the easing planned for the next few days should take a little longer.

The new number of infections is one of the highest since the pandemic began in Argentina, where the last 159 registered deaths have brought the total death toll to 4,764

The epicenter of the pandemic continues to be the Greater Buenos Aires region with 5,402 new infections in the province and 1,047 in the autonomous city of Buenos Aires, chaired by Horacio Larreta, who, after meeting with Argentine President Alberto Fernández, the possibility of delaying for the next Days planned strategies for economic reopening and mobility.

Larreta had planned to allow some outdoor sports activities in addition to reopening bars and restaurants, provided that they perform their services outside and not within the premises, as well as new protocols for measures in public spaces.

However, caution is advised by the Argentine government and, having insisted on multiple occasions, a return to the most restrictive restraint measures will be considered if the situation shows no signs of improvement.
