Health Minister Carla Vizzotti and Advisor to the President Cecilia Nicolini are looking for a way to expedite the vaccine delivery schedule for Sputnik V, particularly with access to the second vaccine dose, to complete the schedules and thereby strengthen the vaccination schedule.
While half a million of the first dose of the Russian biologic will arrive in the country this Thursday, Vizzotti and Nicolini met with the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) authorities this Wednesday to oversee negotiations and control deliveries.
Both analyzed different axes for the development of immunization in Argentina, focusing on the importance of establishing the arrival schedule for the second doses in order to complete the immunization schedules already started.
“All people will complete their vaccination plan. We want to assure people that everyone who received the first dose will receive the second,” the minister said at the meeting, reports the Argentine agency Télam.
So far, Argentina has managed to use 9,495,304 doses of vaccine for COVID-19, with more than 7.8 million people having received the first dose and around 1.6 having already acquired the entire system, according to the Public Vaccination Monitor.
On the other hand, the Ministry of Health reported 496 new deaths from the coronavirus this Wednesday, which left an additional 24,475 infections.
The country has thus collected 3,215,572 confirmed positive results since the outbreak of the pandemic, in which 68,807 people were killed and a further 5,394 people were placed in intensive care beds.
