Argentina confirms a new record of coronavirus deaths and registers a further increase in infections

Argentina registered a new record this Thursday in both the number of deaths from COVID-19 in one day and the number of other confirmed cases of the disease.

According to the latest balance offered by the Argentine health authorities, 153 new coronavirus deaths and 6,377 new cases were recorded in the Latin American country. The worldwide number in Argentina is 3,441 deaths and 185,373 infected.

Similarly, 88.6 percent (5,654 people) of those infected confirmed in the last 24 hours correspond to the city and the province of Buenos Aires, the epicenter of the pandemic in Argentina.

So far, the province of Buenos Aires has accumulated 110,662 coronavirus infections, while the city has reported 58,566. Chaco is far behind with 3,521 infections.

Health authorities have indicated that 1,076 people are hospitalized in intensive care units due to COVID-19. The proportion of hospital beds in Argentina is 55.3 percent.
