Argentina condemns illegal espionage against the families of the victims of the submarine sunk in 2017

The Argentine government this Wednesday condemned an illegal espionage operation allegedly carried out by the previous government on the relatives of the 44 victims of the ARA San Juan submarine, which disappeared in November 2017 and was found on the seabed a year later.

The Federal Intelligence Agency (AFI) has announced that it has found three storage units holding archived photos and follow-up information from the victims’ families with dates between January and June 2018.

At this time the submarine was still missing and the relatives of the victims carried out numerous protests and even camped in the Plaza de Mayo in Buenos Aires to demand greater efforts in search operations.
