An internal message from the Islamic State in West Africa confirms the death of the leader of Boko Haram

An internal message from the leadership of the terrorist organization Islamic State in West Africa (ISWA) confirms that the leader of the Jihadist group Boko Haram, Abubakar Shekau, died after he was killed in an attack on the 19th in the Nigerian state of Borno.

The message comes precisely from ISWA leader Abu Musab Al Barnaui in a speech that was taped on the news portal HumAngle late Friday.

In his Haussa language speech, he described Shekau as “the leader of disobedience and corruption” and assured that his fighters were “pleased” to have died when he detonated a charge during the Attack on his hiding place.

ISWA split from Shekau’s Boko Haram faction in 2016 over disagreements with the extremist leader over his excessive use of force, particularly against Muslims in areas under his influence.
