Researchers at the Medical Center of the University of Halle in East Germany carried out an experiment on the risk of infection with coronavirus at major cultural and sporting events this Saturday with an experimental concert.
Pop star Tim Bendzko will give three concerts in the Arena Leipzig with 2,210 healthy volunteers, whose movements and contacts will be recorded by a tracking system.
The Restart-19 study therefore aims to obtain a mathematical model that can be used to assess the risk of a coronavirus outbreak after an important event in an enclosed space. The results of this study, financed by the federal states of Saxony and Saxony-Anhalt, are expected to be available in autumn.
The experiment started in the morning with the registration of participants. All participants were measured for temperatures before entering and equipped with a contact tracker to record their usual daily routes.
