August 2, 2020

The death toll from alcohol consumption in the Indian state of Punjab (northwest) has risen to 98, the authorities of the Asian country confirmed on Sunday.

Punjab Police Deputy Commissioner Kuluant Singh has highlighted that twelve more people have died in Tarn Taran District in the past few hours, increasing the death toll to 75 immediately.

It was suggested that the number was compiled based on “information received from the field” as many families celebrated their relatives’ funerals without autopsying the victims.
