The Algerian government announced on Tuesday the deaths of two suspected terrorists during an operation in Ain Defla province in the north of the country, without specifying the group that the suspects would belong to.
“As part of the fight against terrorism, a division of the army today ambushed two terrorists in an ambush in Yebel Amruna near El Hasania municipality … and recovered two Kalashnikov assault rifles. Ammunition, grenades and binoculars,” said Ministry of Defense.
He also stressed that “the army reaffirms its commitment and determination to persecute and neutralize these criminals wherever they are on the territory through the tireless efforts to fight terrorism, and to make every attempt to ensure security and stability to undermine the country. “
The Algerian army has carried out numerous operations against the positions of the Al Qaeda terrorist group in the Islamic Maghreb (AQMI), previously known as the Salafist Group for Sermon and Combat (GSPC), and against cells associated with the Islamic State jihadist group.
