Al Assad formalized a new government in Syria with no changes among the top ministers

Syrian President Bashar al Assad on Sunday confirmed the formation of a new government that will keep its chief ministers in their positions, according to state news agency SANA.

“The President has issued Decree No. 221 of 2020 on the formation of the new Syrian Government, headed by Hussein Arnus,” the Syrian President’s office announced on Twitter, citing the text of the decree.

Among them are Defense Minister Ali Abdulá Ayub, Foreign Minister Walid al Moallem and Interior Minister Mohamed Khaled al Rahmun.

The Syrian cabinet consists of 29 ministers plus Prime Minister Hussein Arnus, who was ordered to form a new government on August 25.
