Airbnb Combined with Women’s Secretariat (“Semujeres”) from Mexico City will offer temporary accommodation to women who are victims of gender-based violence. ,

The shelter platform is supported by a donation of $ 52,000 to Semujeres with the aim of helping women who must leave their homes to start the process that will enable them to overcome the circumstances of violence, protection in a safe, free and safe to offer warm space in which they are.

“For the past few months during the pandemic, most of us have been confined to the security of our homes. However, for women in abusive situations, this environment can feel more like a prison. We are proud to support the efforts of the Mexico City Women’s Secretariat to provide temporary protection for women in the country’s capital, ”said Flavia Matos, Latam director of public order at Airbnb, in a statement.

The Semujeres, having previously monitored their relevant logs, will manage the reservation process for the victims and also define the room that best suits their needs. Likewise, the costs for the temporary accommodation will be covered with the funds of the donation provided by Airbnb.

At this juncture, marked by lengthy imprisonment, the Alliance will also help strengthen the mental, physical, and social health of women and their children, who are often in increasing states of family tension and emotional exhaustion.

This initiative will be the first to be implemented by the platform in Latin America. According to Airbnb, there is a need to band together to ensure women – and their children – live a life free of violence.
