The data published by the Agency for Africa reflect a total of 609,777 cases, including 13,931 in the last 24 hours, with 13,473 deaths and 304,889 cases recovered. The continent reached 500,000 infections on July 8, which is due to a rapid increase in cases.
South Africa remains the most affected country with 287,796 cases and 4,172 deaths, which has put enormous pressure on the country’s health system.
Given this situation, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa announced on Sunday a new curfew in the country, the ban on alcohol consumption and the mandatory use of face masks.
