Africa broke the barrier of 70,000 infections this Thursday after more than 3,200 infections across the continent occurred on the last day, with nearly 2,500 deaths. All countries are already affected after Lesotho has confirmed its first case.
According to the latest balance published by the World Health Organization (WHO) Regional Office, there were a total of 72,379 infections and 2,480 deaths from COVID-19 across the continent. In addition, more than 25,000 patients have overcome the disease.
South Africa remains the most affected country with 12,074 and 219 deaths, although Egypt is the most punished country to date with 556 deaths and 10,432 infections.
Morocco is followed by 6,466 cases and 188 deaths in several cases, while 6,253 cases and 522 deaths have been recorded in Algeria.
