Active cases of COVID-19 continue to increase in Portugal, confirming 418 new infections

The Portuguese authorities reported 418 new cases of coronavirus within 24 hours this Thursday, a number that is greater than the number of people who recovered from COVID-19 during the same period (335) and the preliminary balance of infections increased by over 45,000 since the pandemic started.

The Portuguese Ministry of Health has registered 45,227 positives, of which just over 30,000 have already recovered and 1,644 have lost their lives, thirteen of them in the last 24 hours. The daily mortality rate is the highest in Portugal over the past five weeks, according to the RTP network.

More than 78 percent of new cases affect the Lisbon and Tagus Valley regions. However, the concern extends to other areas such as the city of Reguengos de Monsaraz, which is approximately 35 kilometers from Villanueva del Fresno (Badajoz). . In this community, according to data confirmed this Thursday, 16 deaths due to regrowth have already been registered.
