About 10 soldiers and militiamen affiliated with the government die in clashes with the Islamic State in Syria

Around a dozen Syrian soldiers and militiamen close to the government were killed in clashes with the jihadist group Islamic State in a desert area in the connection between the provinces of Aleppo, Hama and Raqqa, as the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported on Friday.

The London-based organization with informants in the country has stated that fighting broke out on Thursday and has continued since, causing the deaths of 11 soldiers and militiamen loyal to Damascus.

He also stated that Russian planes have stepped up bombing the region in support of government forces, adding that the fighting so far has resulted in the deaths of seven jihadists.
