A volunteer from the Nantes diocese confesses responsibility for the fire in the cathedral

A man who was arrested as a suspect in the fire registered in the cathedral in the French city of Nantes last week confirmed during the interrogation that he was responsible for what happened, although the reasons that prompted him have not yet been clarified .

The 39-year-old man, who volunteered for the diocese, has confirmed to the coroner that he has lit fires in the three fires, as Nantes Prosecutor Pierre Sennès said he was released into custody.

“My client worked,” said Quentin Chabert, the suspect’s lawyer, who faces up to ten years in prison and a fine of € 150,000, the French newspaper Le Monde reports.

“He bitterly regrets the facts and admits that this was a release for him. He is surrounded by remorse and overwhelmed by the magnitude of events,” said Chabert.
