At least eight soldiers have died this Friday in a shooting by another soldier who has taken place at a base in the Transbaikalia region in southeastern Russia, as reported by the Ministry of Defense.
The military has opened fire “during the changing of the guard against his colleagues,” Defense said in a statement, collected by the Tass agency. “As a result, eight soldiers have died on the spot and two others have been injured,” he added.
The Ministry of Defense has already sent an investigative commission, headed by the department's 'number two', Colonel General Andrei Kartapolov, to “establish the circumstances of the incident.”
