The German police found the bodies of five children between the ages of one and eight in a house in Solingen and are investigating the alleged responsibility of their mother who threw herself on the train tracks in the nearby city of Düsseldorf.
“We don’t yet know exactly what happened when or why, only that it is a very tragic situation,” complained a police spokesman, Stefan Weiand, who did not disclose the exact causes of death of the five children.
The 27-year-old mother, who would be unable to provide a statement to the authorities, suffered serious injuries after throwing herself on the tracks at Düsseldorf Central Station, which police are investigating as an attempted suicide. According to the DPA agency, the woman would have arrived at the train station with another eleven-year-old son.
It was a grandmother of the children who alerted the security service shortly before 2 p.m. After the call, several agents went to the family home and located the five lifeless bodies.
