A migrant tested positive for coronavirus in a reception and identification center on the Greek island of Chios. This makes him the first infected person to be registered in this type of facility on the Aegean islands.
This is a 35-year-old man from Yemen who was in contact with 30 other people at the center, according to the AMNA news agency.
Health officials have said he has been taken to a hospital on the island while those who have been in contact with him have been quarantined and will remain in isolation until the results of their tests are known.
There are more than 3,800 people on site, which is three times the capacity for which it was designed. Several cases have been recorded in detention centers for migrants in mainland Greece.
Since the pandemic began, the Greek government has reviewed 6,177 cases of coronavirus and 216 deaths. In addition, 1,347 other people have recovered from the disease.
