The new incentive comes at a time of turmoil between McDonald’s and its employees.
This month, workers in 15 major U.S. cities went on strike at select McDonald’s locations to raise the minimum wage to $ 15 after learning that the fast-food titan had made $ 5 billion in profits last year. Dollar had made.
The company announced that it would raise employee wages by an average of 10% for the remainder of the year and estimated the average wage for employees in in-house restaurants would reach $ 15 an hour by 2024.
This excludes employees who work in franchise restaurants, which make up a whopping 95% of all McDonald’s locations.
Many fast food restaurants like Wendy’s and IHOP have duplicated digital models and promotions that encourage customers to order online through an app and decentralized the typical one-to-one interaction model between customers and customers and employees.
McDonald’s plans to hire 10,000 new employees in its company’s restaurants over the next three months.
