A man catches fire in front of UNHCR headquarters in Geneva

GENEVA, Oct. 23 (Reuters / EP) –

A man has set himself on fire when he was at the headquarters of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Geneva and has been evacuated by medical personnel, according to a spokeswoman for the UN agency.

Liz Throssell, a spokesman for UNHCR, explained to the press in Geneva that the identity and origin of the man who has set himself on fire and has indicated that he is alive is unknown.

The Swiss city of Geneva hosts the headquarters of UNHCR and also the headquarters of the United Nations Human Rights Council, among other institutions.
