September 21, 2020

Israeli police announced this Sunday that they had arrested a driver in Jerusalem who threatened to break the fence guarding protesters who were protesting near Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s official residence.

According to the authorities, the driver accelerated but stopped at the last moment, “which is a danger to the demonstrators and the officers”.

At least 3,000 people this Sunday protested near Netanyahu’s residence against recent restrictions imposed to halt the progression of the coronavirus, which has already left 187,902 accumulated cases on the territory and just over 1,250 deaths.

Several groups of protesters have come to Jerusalem by bus to protest these new measures by Netanyahu to avoid the large family gatherings and mass prayers that coincide with the Christmas time of the Jewish New Year.
