MADRID, 11 Oct. (EUROPE PRESS) –
An Antonov An-72 cargo plane with eight people on board has disappeared this Thursday afternoon in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), an hour after taking off from the town of Goma.
According to information from the Actualite.CD news portal, the aircraft was transporting material for logistics operations of the president, Felix Tshisekedi, and he would have lost contact with the control center an hour after taking off approximately.
The plane, operated by the Air Force, was headed to the country's capital, Kinshasa, where it was scheduled to land at 4:43 p.m. (local time).
As the Civil Aviation Authority points out, since the plane stopped communicating with the control center, “requests for information in this regard have been in vain.”
Tshisekedi, meanwhile, returned on a jet to Kinshasa on Thursday after visiting the provinces of North and South Kivu.
