92 migrants were rescued after the sinking of their boat in the Aegean Sea

At least 92 migrants were rescued by the Greek coast guard and other boats after the boat capsized near the Aegean island of Rhodes.

Helicopters and merchant ships that have supported the Greek Navy and the coast guard are participating in the search operation in the Aegean, according to the ERT television station. At the moment it is not clear how many people were on board the ship.

According to the International Organization for Migration (IOM), so far this year almost 8,500 people have come to Greece by sea, which in 2015 became the most important port of entry for migrants and refugees to Europe.
