At least 24 people died Tuesday after a bus crashed into a gorge around 300 meters deep in Nepal’s Mugu district in northwestern Nepal, authorities confirmed.
Mugu police have indicated that around 40 people were traveling in the vehicle and added that another 15 passengers were critically injured, so it cannot be ruled out that the death toll could rise in the next few hours, Kathmandu Post ‘collected .
The vehicle that covered the distance between Banke and Gamgadhi went off the road for unknown reasons, although Agent Bahadur Mahato has warned of a “brake failure”. “The accident happened in difficult terrain,” he added.
On the flip side, he noted that most of the victims were workers and students returning home before pointing out that it was “the biggest traffic accident since Mugu was connected to the national road network some nine years ago” .
