At least 20 people were killed in an attack on criminal groups in the Nigerian city of Kadisau in the northern province of Katsina, as confirmed by the police, as part of a rebound in these incidents in the north and north-west of the country.

Provincial police spokesman Gambo Isah has spoken in statements to the Nigerian Premium Times newspaper that the attackers arrived at the scene on Tuesday evening aboard more than 200 motorcycles to raid the city.

“The residents resisted, and as a result, the armed men opened fire and killed fourteen on the spot,” he said before adding that four of the 26 wounded died later.
