One of the main difficulties in learn a language is a good language skill that is sufficient to communicate effectively and to achieve more for you ship.
Despite years of experience, we often don’t feel safe enough to relax and let go. That’s because of Fear of mispronounced words or make grammatical errors.
However, perfection should not be the goal. Your fluent speaking and communication skills will only improve over time. The more you practice – and make mistakes – the faster you will achieve them.
Keri Craig, an expert in language teaching and director of the British Council’s Teaching Center in Mexico, shares the next tips to the Improve your English skillss:
one. Listen carefully: Create an intense process by listening to music, videos, or radio in English for at least a few hours every day on the way to work, exercising, or even in bed before bed.
Listen to material for which you have a transcript to better understand it. For example, you can watch a movie with audio and English subtitles, or do listening exercises.
2nd Repeat out loud: Try imitating to practice your pronunciation and get used to highlighting words. First listen to the content a few times while following the transcript.
Then read the text aloud and focus on playing rhythm and intonation. Don’t worry about the words you mispronounce, just try to get a fluent rhythm. Repeat the process over and over again.
3rd Record yourself: If you want to express yourself as closely as possible to a native speaker, you can record your voice from time to time. Listen to an audio, then read it out and record it yourself.
Find the differences between your version and the original. This is your opportunity to work on certain sounds. If you can assess your mistakes, you are closer to having a correct pronunciation.
Four. Practice Reading: Reading is a great way to enrich your vocabulary. Concentrate on understanding the text and familiarizing yourself with the structure of the language without thinking about grammar.
Also try reading aloud as this will allow your brain to become familiar with the language and help you improve your oral level.
5. Writing: You will probably feel very limited when writing, but the main goal of this exercise is to get used to communicating ideas in English without feeling the pressure of speaking to someone else.
6. Use technology: There are currently numerous applications for smartphones or tablets for learning or practicing languages.
Find the one that best suits your needs. Use some downtime to practice with games or entertaining and educational apps.
7. Take part in social activities: Take an English course on a subject you are passionate about or join a social club to meet people who speak English. In this way you connect the language with a positive and pleasant experience.
Discuss topics that interest you with other friends who are also trying to improve their oral level. Traveling is also a great way to practice the language.
8th. Learn a new word every day: Make a conscious effort to expand your vocabulary and look up words that you don’t know in the dictionary when reading or listening to English content.
Try to use them in different sentences, even if you are not sure that you are doing it right. Do this until you feel comfortable with it and have integrated it into your daily dictionary.
9. Speak, speak, speak !: Speak confidently and take every opportunity to chat.
Don’t be shy or afraid of being wrong! Remember, the more you practice, the more comfortable you will feel and your vocabulary, pronunciation and language skills will improve.
